Iodine, Thyroid and Hair Growth
Iodine is element 53 found on the Periodical Table between Tellurium and Xenon, and its compounds are primarily used in nutrition. Iodine deficiency affect two billion people [1].
Iodine is an essential nutrient required for a healthy thyroid. Like vitamin C, your body cannot make iodine. Iodine deficiency causes hypothyroidism, resulting in hair loss [2].
Fluoride is a drug used to treat hyperthyroidism. Consequently, those without hyperthyroidism, medicated as if, lower thier thyroid activity, amounting to hair loss. Fluoridation of public waters equal the amount to treat hyperthyroidism.
"Some
experts and researchers believe that fluoride is in part the
reason for near-epidemic levels of hypothyroidism in the
United States. Fluoride had been used for decades as
an effective anti-thyroid medication to treat
hyperthyroidism, and was frequently an effective treatment
levels below the current "optimal" intake of 1 mg/day.
This is due to the ability of fluoride to mimic the action
of thyroid-stimulating hormone. The more fluoride
circulating, the more the body thinks there is TSH
circulating, which shuts down the thyroid, making it less
active." Living Well with Hypothyroidism:

Are you iodine deficient?
A simple test uses iodine tincture, painted on the skin. If you are deficient, the tincture will be absorb into the body, in a short amount of time.
I can't be too detailed about this test, because I'm not a health care professional. But, I can nudge you in the right direction. Google iodine deficiency test and find the details.
It is important to purchase the correct iodine tincture!! You want the tincture to stain your skin. Stay away from clear iodine tinctures.
