My Hair
Routine
Here's my routine:
-
First off, I wash my hair once a
week. If I'm unusually oily, I will wash it more than once in a
week.
-
Lets Talk Shampoo!!!
I alternate with my shampoos. I will use
Pantene Pro-V shampoo one wash and then Aussie shampoo on the other
wash. (I can't recall which kind of Aussie I use. I use the one that
is for the hair type that is thirsty...lol.) When I shampoo, I don't
use lots of shampoo because the top of my head is the only part that
get's greasy so I'm like why strip all the oil from all of my hair
when most of my hair is screaming for oil... I just use shampoo on
the top of my head and let the suds run down my hair and wash it
that way. I found that my hair is softer and doesn't seem to break
as much.
-
Lets Talk Conditioner!!!
I use lots of conditioner. I use
Pantene sometimes and the rest of the time I use Sunsilk. The
sunsilk conditioner is expensive but it's worth it to me. If you
want to try Sunsilk, buy the Sunsilk that's the best fit for your
hair type. Their website is helpful in determining that and they
will also send you free samples if you request before you buy it.
The Sunsilk is really thick and I leave it in for about 5 minutes in
the shower before I rinse. I never use a blow dryer because it will
damage my already fragile hair. Also, I stay away from the curling
iron as much as possible. I do use hot sticks when I need to do my
hair for church. I do not heat my hotsticks. I can do a post about
how to use cool hotsticks instead of hot ones if anyone is
interested. Just let me know. (I am the hotstick goddess!!!
Seriously!!!) Anyway, hotsticks break hair if they are not used
properly. Most people don't put them in correctly and they end up
ripping them out! Ouch!!!
-
I use cocanut oil and a jojoba oil mixture
once a week to deep replenish my hair before I wash it unless it's
winter time. In that case, I use put my mixture in a squirt bottle
and I spray my hair once a day to keep static at bay as well as
moisturizing between washes because there's not much moisture in the
winter time. You can get Jojoba and Coconut oil at any health or
beauty store. They are awesome separate or together! They makes my
hair soft and shiny after I use them. Not to mention, the cocanut
oil smells good. I usually let them soak into my hair for a few
hours before I wash it.
-
I do not use a hair brush and I only use
seamless picks, seamless wide tooth combs, and seamless hair
accessories so that I won't damage my hair.
-
Another thing, I take
generic pre-natal vitamins from Wal-Mart. I have taken them for
almost five years. My hair grew really slow until I started taking
them. I am not sure if my long hair is hereditary or not. I'm the
only one in my family that has ever tried to grow hair to an
unusually long length. I have read that everyone has a 'terminal
length' that their hair will grow to and then stop. Some people's
terminal length is just shoulder length while others is past the
floor. I am still trying to figure out what my terminal length is.
Hope this helps! Samantha
